April 24th 2010

My youngest is 24 today so to celebrate here is a photograph of him when he was a youngster. This was taken at the Fondation Maeght in St Paul de Vence in the south of France, one of our very favourite galleries. The kinetic fountain sculpture by Pol Bury in the pond behind him is one of our favourites too.  The steel tubes gradually fill with water and tip up, banging against each other making a chiming sound and then the water drains out and they tip back. The whole thing is a wonderful mix of sound and movement. Sounds just like Ben. Happy birthday!

  1. Happy, happy birthday to the dear boy! I’ll bet he’s still full of personality. 🙂

Cool sculpture too; I love ones that make music.
