I was going back through some old photographs and found this one. This was taken in St Paul de Vence in the south of France. It’s a beautiful medieval hilltop village which has my favourite restaurant in the whole world, Le Colombe d’Or. Absolutely divine food. It’s also a hotel and it has always been my dream to stay there. It houses the most amazing collection of contemporary art by Picasso, Matisse, Miro, Modigliani, Braque… the list goes on, the diving board in the emerald green pool was designed by Jean Arp and there is a sculpture next to the pool by Alexander Calder. Everywhere you look is another masterpiece. One day…
Looks like there’s more than 7 steps to heaven after all.
Maybe it’s the ‘Stairway to Heaven’…certainly feels like it!
Oooh, take me with you if you do stay there! =) There’s something very old-worldly beautiful about those types of narrow stone stairways.
Exhausting to have to run up and down them several times a day though!
I need the exercise! =)
And worth the effort if you are visiting the Colombe d’Or…and if I do ever stay there, you are invite along 🙂
Thanks!! =)
