On Sunday, we went to Chamonix. The rain in Geneva had fallen as snow higher up in the Alps. We took a funicular railway up the mountain through the snow line. It was magical. The trees were covered in freshly fallen snow but Chamonix, down in the valley, was still glowing with Autumn colour.

Nice contrast with the green. It’s amazing how the branches and twigs are coated in “icing.”
The snow had only just fallen so the trees were coated and the leaves have stayed on the trees for much longer this year. I was lucky to see it 🙂
Great shot, Diane! The seasonal contrast is amazing with the ice/snow in the foreground and the autumn colors in the background. Great job.
Thanks! I was chugging along on a train so it was hard to frame the shot well but you get the idea 🙂
Very wild what a little elevation will do to the scenery! Nice juxtaposition, like the first commenter said.
Totally unprepared for the snow of course, silly boots on etc. but so worth seeing.
Switzerland caught me with surprise with snow too when I was there the first time. Darn Switzerland. ;>
